Vaping moving to disposables, and the environment discussion.

There seems to be a growing trend out there. And we don’t get it!

In China, America and now the UK, big players are all pushing disposables, and we find this totally shocking. We can see the problem, and now our industry is following big tobacco companies.

As if TPD, and the damage of these lobbyist laws were not enough. When TPD kicked in May 2016the EU and UK moved a whole industry from predominantly glass recyclable bottles to single use, plastic bottles, during a Global plastic crisis over ridiculous claims that it was dangerous if you drink it, when you can send a child into a supermarket to buy very strong, fruit smelling bleach.

It is the responsibility of the adult to keep products that are potentially harmful if misused, like many things must be kept out of reach of youngsters, children and pets. We could name hundreds of everyday products that are potentially dangerous. Just to include a few - washing tablets, salt, coffee, bleach, air fresheners, flame retardants, some cosmetics, nail varnish remover. The list is never ending. Are these products less harmful than Vape e-liquid if they are consumed?

While Sir David Attenborough, one of our most respected and honoured people in our country, is warning us - and the world - about the perils of plastic and begging us to make changes, we the consumers must take a stand against the large corporations to expose their hand in this. Within vaping, if we buy disposables we are giving the green light to big business behaviour which has become a very dirty world only focused on money.

Here at Vapetime, we have always slanted more towards the high end and quality end of vaping, as we try to rationalise expectations and would like to think that by having better products they last longer, and will reduce the overall cost to the end user in the long run consequently reducing waste in our current plastic environmental crisis.

It would be much better from our perspective to use e-cigarettes with a longer life span 3/6 months or longer, where the only waste is a small coil (that can be recycled),rather than a whole unrecyclable unit that in most cases last only a day or two with a very modest performance. Many devices are built better and overall this investment pays off on all fronts.

Let’s just say we allow disposables to grow and we buy into that market. Just imagine how many disposables each e-cigarette user would throw away. Due to their nature and them containing nicotine, which is considered a dangerous chemical, they cannot be recycled or very few will be. This isn’t something we agree with or are keen in any way to promote morally. We object to sealed pods that are not refillable and, if you look closely you can see these ideas come from the types of big blue chip companies that have caused our environmental crisis in the first place.

Don’t be part of this problem, be part of the solution.

What is your perception?
