Vatican City is an Italian city; a city-state surrounded by Rome. The Roman Catholic Church have its headquarter in this noble city, and so Vatican City is the home of the Pope, ancient art, and architecture including the famous Sistine Chapel. Cigarette has already been banned in the city, but now, the pope has decided that a ban should also be placed on vaping.

Despite the fact that the sales of tobacco cigarettes has been one of the major sources of revenue for the church, the pope in 2017, banned the sale of tobacco cigarettes. Some people were saying it then that if the Catholic Church was actually ready to help smokers quit smoking, then it would be just the right time to open up the first vape shop in Vatican City.

However, some individuals also opined than that future popes will be chosen and announced using vapes instead of the conventional black and white smoke.

It was in 2002 that smoking has actually been banned in the city. That was when a law was passed by the state putting a ban on it in the city state and also in all offices of the Catholic Church all over the world.

The Secretary General of the Governatorate of Vatican City State, Bishop Fernando Vérgez announced last week that vaping electronic cigarettes are to be counted as being completely equal with smoking tobacco products. This statement is actually in complete contrary to all the studies and evidences we have on e-cigarettes. Studies have proved that e-cigarettes are in no way the same as tobacco products. E-cigs carry at least 95% less risk.

According to Crux, vaping has been on the increase in Vatican offices which has hence generated lots of complaints lately. With more than 21 million Italians currently smoking, with countless number of Catholics all over the world, putting a ban on vaping may not be the best decision, especially when it is completely contrary to what science has to say about the subject.
